Northern Tufa Trail Hike
Northern Tufa Trail — Duration 2½ to 3 hours. Length 2.5 miles.
April 6th, 8 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Location: Eglington Kiosk located off of Grand Teton just east of Aliante Parkway.
This hike is brand new! It is of moderate difficulty over easy desert terrain. The trailhead is at the Eglington Kiosk, we will go on the north side of Grand Teton and then head east.
You will see a Tufa Stream which is an 11,000-year-old fossilized stream bed. This is the only known deposit of stream tufa in the U.S. You will see many endangered plant species and may catch a glimpse of the wildlife that now inhabit the national monument like the desert tortoise, jack rabbits and burrowing owls.
